Tamiya X and XF Acrylic: gloss and matte colours for a professional finish
The Tamiya X and XF Acrylic range covers two finishes: X (gloss) and XF (matte). It includes solid tones, metallics and translucent Clear shades (e.g. X-22 Clear) for shine effects and protective coats. They work with a brush and, properly diluted, also with an airbrush. The perfect base before colour
- Prep the surface with primer in thin coats to improve adhesion and evenness.
- Fix joints and small imperfections with putty and a light sanding with sandpaper.
Application: brush and airbrush
- With a brush: thin coats, letting it dry between coats for a clean finish.
- With an airbrush: dilute gradually until you reach a stable flow and work at low pressure. Check out the auxiliary products (thinners and flow improver) and equipment in airbrushing.
Shadows, filters and finish
- Define recesses and panel lines with washes.
- Boost saturation or create glazes with inks.
- Protect and fine-tune the final shine with varnishes (matte, satin or gloss).
