Description
Desert Dust Vallejo 73121: light sands and realistic warm dust effects
Desert Dust Vallejo 73121 is an extra-fine powder pigment designed for light sand, very dry earth and dust deposits with a natural finish. Its sand beige tone adds a warm, bright look that is ideal for desert scenes and wind-exposed surfaces. The fine grain size allows smooth glazes and transitions over metal, plastic or resin, and its non-flammable nature makes it safe to use indoors. The 35 ml jar will last for many weathering projects and dries without unwanted shine.
For dry application, place the pigment with a soft brush wherever it would naturally accumulate by gravity (horizontal surfaces, recesses, tracks and running gear). Blend with a clean brush to soften panels or break up uniform areas. If you want light fixation without losing texture, touch the pigment with a brush dampened in pigment fixer/binder; for more volume, mix it with binder to obtain a paste and create crusts and build-ups. Compatible with water, acrylics and varnishes; clean tools with water and soap.

Suggested uses: on vehicles in arid theatres (deserts and steppes) it creates light dust deposits on lower hulls, fenders and tracks; in North Africa or Middle East dioramas it simulates fine sand, dry paths and dunes; in urban scenery for dry climates it adds light dusting over asphalt, curbs, walls and sun-exposed structures. Alternate layers with ochres and siennas, and combine with light greys in mineral areas, sealing when needed to preserve the layered effect.
