Description
Carbon Black (Smoke Black) Vallejo 73116: smoke, soot and burn marks with smooth transitions
Extra-fine powder pigment designed for smoke, soot and blackish deposits with natural finishes. Its matte carbon black tone makes it easy to create very controlled glazes and gradients over both light and dark surfaces. The fine grain size allows smooth transitions on metal, plastic or resin, and its non-flammable nature makes it safe for indoor use. The 35 ml jar will last for many weathering projects and dries without unwanted shine.
For dry application, place the pigment with a soft brush wherever it would naturally accumulate by gravity (horizontal surfaces, recesses, tracks and running gear). Blend with a clean brush to soften panels or create smoke plumes and smoky streaks. If you want light fixation without losing texture, touch the pigment with a brush dampened in pigment fixer/binder; for more volume, mix it with binder to obtain a paste and create crusts, burnt areas and heavy build-ups. Compatible with water, acrylics and varnishes; clean tools with water and soap.

Suggested uses: on military, civilian and industrial vehicles it creates exhaust stains on nozzles, grills and pipes; on aircraft and helicopters it reproduces engine smoke and smoked trailing edges; on railway stock it adds soot and black grime to bogies, wheels and chassis; in urban or post-war dioramas it simulates scorched walls, chimneys, fire damage and dark patinas. Alternate layers with greys, siennas and rust tones, sealing when needed to preserve the stratified weathering effect.
