Mixed with <em>X-22 Clear<\/em> it lets you create your own satin or matt clear; added to X\/XF colours it allows you to fine-tune the final sheen without significantly shifting the tone.<\/p>\n<h3>What it does and how to use it<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Flattens clear coats:<\/strong> mix with <em>X-22 Clear<\/em> to obtain a satin or matt clear finish.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adjusts the finish of colours:<\/strong> add small amounts to X\/XF paints to knock back the shine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Important:<\/strong> <u>do not apply X-21 on its own<\/u>; used neat, it will leave a white, chalky haze.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Suggested ratios<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Soft satin:<\/strong> 1 part X-21 : 6\u20138 parts X-22 (\u224810\u201315%).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pronounced satin:<\/strong> 1 : 3\u20134 (\u224820\u201330%).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Matt:<\/strong> 1 : 1\u20132 (\u224840\u201350%). Adjust until you achieve the desired matt level without whitening the surface.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you prefer a ready-made matt clear, use <a href=\"\/en\/paints\/tamiya-xf-86-flat-clear-barniz-mate\/\"><em>XF-86 Flat Clear<\/em><\/a> (a matt varnish ready to apply).<\/p>\n<h3>Airbrush and brush<\/h3>\n<p>First prepare the mix (e.g. X-22 + X-21) and then <strong>thin with <a href=\"\/en\/paints\/tamiya-x-20a-diluyente-10ml\/\">X-20A<\/a><\/strong> to a light milk consistency. As a starting point for airbrushing, use 1:1 with X-20A, 0.3 mm nozzle at 12\u201318 PSI, in light passes. For brush painting, work in thin layers and let each coat dry before applying the next.<\/p>\n<h3>Compatibility and cleaning<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Compatible with:<\/strong> Tamiya <a href=\"https:\/\/craftyminis.com\/en\/paints\/\">X\/XF acrylic paints<\/a> and Tamiya acrylic clear coats.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Not suitable for:<\/strong> enamels or lacquers.
